Eilen Jewell at the Turning Point Café, 06-06-2008
I’ve taped Eilen Jewell and her band on five occasions now, and this show at the Turning Point Café in Piermont NY last summer is probably the best recording of the bunch. If you’re not familiar with her, Eilen (rhymes with feelin’) hails from Idaho and now makes her home in the Boston area. She writes most of the songs she performs, and she and her killer band always give a very high-energy show (and look like they’re having lots of fun doing it). Their unique retro style incorporates country, swing, rock ‘n roll, blues, folk and rockabilly influences. Seems like they’re always on tour, so if you like what you hear be sure to check them out at a venue near you.
