A nice night to see the Mickey Hart Band. The weather in Boulder was good for this time of year and we gathered a few friends before the show for some pre-show beers at a local microbrewery in anticipation of the upcoming show.

There was no opening act, So we knew we were in for a 3 hour dose of the Mickey Hart Band. About 9:30, they came out to start the first set of music. The show started off with “Let There Be Light” which set the crowd up for a great evening. The transition into “Starlight” was nice as well. The crowd really got into it when they got to “Iko Iko” and the surprise “Fire on the Mountain” we were expecting as an encore. The second set started with “Heartbeat” as the crowd came out of the side conversations to settle back into the music. “Slo Jo”, “Cut the Deck”, and “”Who stole the Show?” were nice songs as well. Then, we got a “Scarlet Begonias” into “The Other Ones” which was a real nice treat thinking we were not going to get it when “Fire on the Mountain” was played in the first set. Finally, we got a nice “Down the Road” which was a great sendoff for the fans as they left for the evening.

We are extremely blessed to have some great musicians in the Colorado front range region, and seeing Elephant Revival is always a great show with a unique sound to please the ear. This show was even more special when we got an intimate show in a small venue with just two of the members of the band, Daniel and Bonnie. We dubbed it, the “Elephant Revival Duo”!

Starting the set with “I Ain’t Got No Home” was a great way to set the mood for the show. A new song from Daniel called “What’s That” was great to hear. Bonnie sang “Remember the Child” which I had never heard before but really enjoyed. These songs seemed to get the group really going before taking a few audience requests such as “Ring Around the Moon” and “Sing to the Mountain”. A wonderful show that I’m sure all of you will enjoy.
